The growing success of the Spooky Empire is sustained by our dedicated volunteers. Each show, Spooky Empire relies on the help of well over a hundred volunteers working in all aspects of the show. Volunteers are needed before and during the 3-day event.
All new and returning volunteers MUST submit a completed Volunteer Application to be eligible to volunteer for Spooky Empire. Even if you have volunteered at previous shows, you must submit a new application for this year. All applicants must be 18 years old or older with a valid ID to apply.
All applicants must email a current photo of themselves, head and shoulders (no extreme make up or costuming) after filling out the application. Applications that are incomplete will be disregarded.
Orientation is MANDATORY. It is the only opportunity to learn the layout of the venue, each position’s details, receive important training from the staff, and meet other volunteers before the show.

As a volunteer you can expect to be a valuable part of a prestigious horror convention production team. You can expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. We want this to be a positive experience for everyone involved; you should expect to work hard and have fun. While there is a great deal of work for us to do, there is also time to make new friends and enjoy the show. Shift lengths run five to eight hours. A minimum of 2 shifts are required for all volunteers. Flexibility and a sense of humor are great assets!
As a volunteer, you are expected to arrive for your shifts on time, dressed appropriately, ready to work, and with a good attitude. We expect volunteers to treat each other, Spooky Empire patrons, and staff in the same manner that they would want to be treated: with a smile and courteous attitude at all times. Volunteers should plan on pitching in when needed, working hard, and enjoying what the show has to offer.
